Start seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before transplanting them into the garden. Or sow seed in the spring when the ground is warm and all danger of frost is past. Plant 8 to 10 seeds 1"; deep in hills that are spaced 4 to 6'. When plants are about 2"; tall, thin leaving the three strongest plants in each hill.
